Boats in city lakes

Me and a friend of mine put his boat in the lake on the west side of evansville near a school and the golf course off mesker. A person walking his dog said it was a 500 dollar fine to put a boat in a city lake. There were no signs posted so we figured we were ok. Does anyone know if there is a law against this?? thx

there was a sign there seen it there this year.. someone must have torn it down

Your best bet is to contact the police department of parks and recreation (if Evansville has one) and ask what the laws are in regards to your concerns.

It appears you are referring to the Helfrich Golf Course. I would suspect you would not be allowed to put a boat in the lake that runs along the number 6 fairway as this most likely would be considered hazardous as you would easily be in range of an errant golf shot and stand a high probability of being hit.

Thanks for the input. I caught 27 crappie and 6 cats that day and didn't get hit by any golf balls. The only sign we saw was the one that says no parking or littering. Now that it drying out i'll be going past elberfeld to the pits.

Guys, that is not a "city" lake. It's a golf course lake. Garvin Park lake is a city lake. You're lucky you didn't ge arrested.
