first time out with the fly rod

Hit a local pond (private unfortunately) tonight. Caught easily 40 bluegills and three bass with one about 3lbs. Man, that's fun on a fly rod. Some of the bluegills were pretty big, with at least ten between 7 & 9 inches. It was hot enough that slower wooly buggers seemed to outperform poppers, until after 9pm when the bass started hitting bigger poppers. Best fishing, guys!

Excellent! Bull gills and chunky bass are always a blast. Me personally, on days like these last few, I won't even start fishing until seven. Keeps my casting arm fresh for the fight . When it gets over 95 might not start until eight. Night fishin' and frog giggin' are where it's at.

Nice report Eddie, sounds like you had a good time. I am hoping to get out Friday, just haven't decided if I am going to hit moving water for smallies, or still water for bluegill and bass.
