You guys have got me feeling like a little kid on christmas morning. I was hoping someone could tell me if you have to worry about spooking them with the motor. Obviously I wouldnt run right up on them, but how cautious do you need to be?

Can you elaborate "flipping secondary points"?thanksWent to Nolin yesterday....the shad are definitely out there in small groups...but it appears the bass have not grouped up yet. There were sparadic, single jumps here and there...but nothing that would be deemed "jumps" IMO. It should be starting ANY DAY!!! Water temps were 85 degrees and we caught a TON flipping along secondary points.

I had a tr20x triton with a 200 and i could see them while on plane & run right up too them and before i could stop i was castin at them.Seen the whole lake with shad & all the way from site too site boil and the start jumping crazy. This happen alot from State park too the dam from what i seen.I was flipin them in the boat before they know what happen.![]()
If you run up too close to a jump from what i have seen the shad and baitfish go down and move to another spot fairly close and start again.
It's called right place at the right time. They've been jumping down there for as long as I can remember. Some years better than others. Stay as far away as you can yet be prepared to make a long cast. Like someone said earlier a "little george" flies a long ways. Also the blade runners work well my favorite is the "cast master" . Jumps are a hoot if your in the right spot, right time and you can really tear into some fish. Although I don't fish the lake much I did manage to tear into some jumps of "lady fish" off the beach this past week at the Gulf of Mexico. Same principle long cast and I tend to cast past them as not so much into them. Their busting bait and the wounded baits tend to sink so I like my lure coming under them.I have been going to Nolin my whole life (24 yrs) and have never heard anyone mention the jumps that I talk to or fish with. I can remember seeing them one morning when I was about 12 or so. Anyways, I am headed down next week for about 4 days and am very interested. Is there any specific way to approach them if you do see them. I would just assume troll towards them from about 100 yards out or so, although im not too sure. Whats the best approach if you happen to see them on the other side of the lake where there is some distance between?
Looking forward as it sounds like according to you guys I might get lucky and catch them jumping a few times. Oh I forgot, I will be spending most my time between Iberia and Wax, any luck there?
was down all last week didn't see any jumps
Anyone seen any yet?
Is Wax ramp open yet?
7 ft lt action spinning rod, 10/2 braid, pop r or any smaller bait, that outfit will cast 30 yds easily, only draw back, iy yakes too long to fight some of the fiesty fish.
Can't wait. I'm leaving tomorrow, heading that way. Saturday morning at sun up, I'll be on the water, ready to go!
