If you dont commit any other acts, no one will know, except you and the robber, thug, or miscreant that is breaking the law.If you use it, well it6 probably was worth it. Now that you've been arrested. I'm certain that there are scores of pro bono lawyers hired by the NRA to defend and pay what ever fine you may incur.If you do need to spend some jail time, you will be a martyr to the cause, and thousands will applaud your stand on second ammendment rights.Or you may get lucky like I did, at lily creek boat ramp about 15 yrs ago, coming in at night saw some fellows working on my truck cap, fired several warning shots in the air, by the time I had my boat on the trailer, here comes a squad car.I admitted what had happened, wasd told "git yer ass outa here, and use a different ramp, this one is dangerous, never been back!I'm not saying whether I carry or not, and if anything happens, its my fault.But you know what is supposed to work great, wasp spray, 20 ft and squirt, then leave quickly, you can get sued, even criminals have civil rights to sue you.

this is my thoughts as well. I don't have a CCW license but I take one with me about anytime.

Yeah I agree with you guys. I have a CCDW and I will always carry on and off the water. If that means I have to break the law at the Corps Lakes then so be it. But like someone said better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6. I completely agree. bad things happen at lakes, ramps, and parks. People have the right to be prepared to defend themselves. I would suggest (without getting too political) that we contact our senators and representatives and try to get HR 1865 passed. This would do nothing except make law abiding gun carriers legal in Corps controlled lands. Hell, the criminals aren't going to abide by the law anyway so the only people this hurts are the honest folks who are trying to follow the law.

I talked to a game warden about this very topic a few years back. He said it was no problem to be concealed regardless if it were a corp impoundment. He did say it probably wasn't a great idea to open carry around the boat ramp because people will call the cops reporting someone carrying a gun. What a bunch of fools. I had to explain my right to carry to some jackoff boater a few years ago at Taylorsville. He caused half a scene so since then I just carry concealed. Long gone are the days we used to ride around the lake or walk the banks with a pistol and no one thought a thing about it.

Game wardens, Sheriffs, State Police, City Police do not enforce Federal Laws, but be advised they can hold you until a Fed officer gets there, true that most will not bother, but it's important to know the facts IMO.

Yeah this goes for camping too. I camp at Corps campgrounds and leave my gun in the truck locked during the day... but at night when all that is between me and a bad guy is a tent wall, i am sleepin with Smith and Wesson

Although this doesn't relate exactly to the intentions of this post, KRS 150.172 passed last year allows individuals to open carry (or concealed with CCDW permit) while engaging in hunting, fishing, trapping, or other activities not prohibited under federal or other state laws. Now this act specifies for defense of yourself or others from animals, but having this justifacation to carry would provide a great deterant from those less than lawful individuals. Look up this statute on the KY Legislative Research Committee website for further clarifications depending on your own activites/locations.

This is correct, currently the Army Corps of Engineers prohibits any concealment of loaded firearms in their controlled lands. However, there is a bill H.R. 1865: The Recreational Lands Self-Defense Act that would end this, but it has not been passed yet!

Here is a link to H.R. 1865's text, which can be summed up by the first line: "To protect the right of individuals to bear arms at water resources development projects administered by the Secretary of the Army, and for other purposes;" meaning COE reservoirs and such. To get this passed, everyone interested needs to contact their Representatives and Senators in the U.S. Congress and show your standing on this resolution.

I sorta resent this post. I consider myself somebody, and there are quite few others who frequent this board.

The Ky fishing board will always be a string of threads that are pretty similar. That's the way Peter and the mods want it, and that's the way it'll be.

It's a bit more fun here flying under the radar.
