Re: gar in flods fork one hell of a fish and tasty

I was fishing all day at the same location at Floyd's Fork. I didn't see any gar or cats, only smallies and a few largemouth.

I was using a rebel tiny craw for a bit and then was using my fly rood the rest of the day. I caught a few finger length largrmouth as we as a few in the 12-15 inch range, and the smallies were all about 12 inches, but provide a lot of fun on the fly rod. I have caught a few 4 pound plus smallies there before.

What kind of lures do you use to catch 4LBers. I fish the Fork all the time and have had no such luck. I dont even think Ive caught a 2LBer out of there. I must be using the wrong baits or something.

I have only fished about 1/4 mile from both sides of the bridge. I seem to have better luck upstream in the faster moving water.
