Looks like there may be some in at least three pools down stream from the main parking area. These pools are just upstream from the big bluff that makes a sharp bend to the right as you go down stream. Anybody else noticed it?

i sure hope not that stuff is nasty u doing any good at otter if so what are you catching and what r u using for bait
I hope I am wrong, but it iks not looking good. I have been catching a lot of trout. Smallmouth bite has been down a little the last week because they were spawning. Smallies should pick back up very soon.
I have been fly fishing, but the lure you used at Floyd's Fork should also work at Otter Creek. Keep in mind that it is closed on Monday and Tuesday,

No, water gets too hot around July/August and it is a put and take fishery so there are a lot of fish removed. They can winter over in there and this fall they will stock both rainbow and brown trout and it will be artificial lures/flies, catch and release only from October 1- April 1.
Don't know about that one granted a lot will die off due to the water temps yet the ones lucky enough to find the spring fed waters should make it okay. Kentucky is full of caverns and springs. I've seen and caught rainbows in the Nolin River which has a number of springs feeding into it. These trout are stocked at Roundstone Creek. Find the under water springs on a hot day and it's cool enough to give you shivers on a hot day. And cool enough to support a trout. Springs rarely dry up.No, water gets too hot around July/August and it is a put and take fishery so there are a lot of fish removed. Coombro, you have touched on something I have wondered about, but I am not sure. I just assumed they can't summer in there because of high temps. I am not sure just how hot the water gets there. I may have to pay more attention there. Another concern is the water level. It can get sxtremely low in a lot of spots during a dry summer. I think this along with the water temperatures might make it tough for them to survive. I do know that in all the years I fished it before, I never caught a trout after about mid June and the smallies get tough as well.
im sorry this is so late. i just saw the post. i noticed diddymo at otter creek downstream of camp carlson when i was fishing it in feb. i told **** at forward cast about it and he said he had not heard anything. im glad im not going crazy and someone else has seen it too.
What the hellz a diddymo?
For the most part otter creek water stay's very cold all summer long, I do remember checking the temp in july some 30 years ago and it was 58F. on the surface. I was tring to fish for large mouth but had no luck and figure the water was too cold for fish to live in. I'm really surprised you have not caught any walleye or sauger in there yet..
wikipedia is awesome. unless of course this is not what your talking about, in which case it *****.

BTW, I asusme we should be careful when wading in Otter Creek not to transport this to another stream via wading boots, etc.? How long can it live outside of water?
I practice keeping all my equipment clean too not spead stuff from spot too spot.I power wash my kayak after i return home from any new water.Even if i hit my local water i clean it.Better safe than sorry. There is stuff out there that can kill a hunny hole faster than it being over fished.YMO

Are you sure you were reading the temp right? I got surface temperatures there this July as high as 84 near the blue hole. Heck I get surface temps in the low 60's in Little River in the Smoky Mountains in May while we are threre for Troutfest, and this is a cold water stream.
I have caught sauger in there several times in the spring downstream at the blue hole. No walleye though. Largemouth bass are fairly rare in there but there are some spotted bass in there and lots of smallies.
