In the cooler months I almost always catch a sauger down in those pools around the blue hole. Always small and never more than one a trip, but they do come up in there. I would say the closer to the river you get the more different species you would be likely to catch. Someday I am going to fish that lwoer stretch, but haven't done so yet.
Went yesterday evening for a couple of hours before dark and caught one bluegill on a curly tail grub fished on a 1/16 ounce jig head. Not another bite. Tried a little topwater, some small tubes and even a the smaller version of the Sweet Beaver with no success. My buddy caught one 8 inch smallie on a tube. Water is LOW and CLEAR, hopefully this rain will help. Didn't take a temp reading, but water was noticeably cooler than a week ago.
