Anyone here be willing to let me borrow yours for 5 days next week? I will pay you to use it if needed. We are leaving a week from Monday and will be back Saturday. If nobody has one, any place that may rent one? Thanks

Elnut, I have one I could loan you but I may be to far for it to be practical. I'm in Franklin County.
It is a hardshell with keys, has foam feet to protect roof. Has adapters to fit door channels to mount tie downs. We use it on the luggage rack on my wife's SUV and tie it down with rachet straps (more secure).
Would probably work well if you have a luggage rack. I have also used it it the bed of my truck just to keep things dry.
Elnut, I think uhaul used to have something like that.
Elnut, another option is to purchase one of the soft sided rooftop carriers. They are made of a vinyl coated type canvas and are waterproof. Amazon has them from $40.00 to $50.00 bucks.
The big advantage with the soft side carries over the hard shell carriers is that you can fold the soft side carrier up to store it. Believe me thats a BIG plus (and they are cheap).
Might try wally world or Kmart as well. Use the Amazon price as a guide.
^^^This^^^ We have one of the soft sided car toppers and we can put tent, sleeping bags, stove, camp kitchen, and pillows in ours and save room in the trunk for the rest. We can take a family of four camping for the weekend in a 1995 Mercury Mystique.Elnut, another option is to purchase one of the soft sided rooftop carriers. Tim, a 1995 Mercury sounds like a really good camping vehicle.
Reminds me of an article I read years ago in the National Lampoon.
They did a Consumer Reports article on the Best Off Road Vehicle.
They tested several models and found the best Off Road Vehicle was a rented Chevy Impalla.
In their tests they found they could drive the rented Chevy through the thickest bush and even right into the lake. The SUV they purchased would not go into most of the areas they drove the rented Chevy into.
LOL I can see why the study would show that!
Honestly, It is great on gas and I can make plenty of room for everyone. I don't drive the truck unless I have to.
