My opinion on your statement is you're not to off the mark in that Nobama has given more to the one's who do NOT pull their weight. This doesn't have anything to do with the subject matter of this thread, but only a true idiot would spend money we don't have.

Over the last 50 or 60 years insurance has gotten to being almost an addiction to us, it seems we just never think we have enough (myself included),the insurance companies have done a bangup job of convincing us we need everything they have to sell ...Obamacare might go a long way toward weaning us a bit from them, I read a piece a while back that was saying employers might stop offering health insurance starting in 2014 ...If that happens I think that some of those folks who have it now won't buy it for themselves after the employer stops offering it ...I remember when folks went to the doctor and paid him for his services, and it wasn't 150 or 200 dollars for 10 minutes in his office ...I don't care for Mr. Obama, not because of what he has done while he has been in office but because I believe he is a Muslim and racist sounding or not I don't think that is good for our country ...As far as spending money we don't have, that seems to be what most presidents in the last half century do methodically, they have passed the buck until we are almost bankrupt.

You have more respect for the President than I do, for the best I can refer to him as when speaking about him while trying not to offend anyone, is Nobama. Never in my life have I ever had this much dislike for a President as I have for Nobama.

I've heard rumors of companies dropping health insurance coverage for employee's. It would be my guess that companies with 100 employee's or less will be the one's most likely to drop health insurance benefits, and there's a LOT of companies that fall into this category, I work for one, however nothing has been mentioned "yet" here at my work about the possibility of cancelling any such benefits in the future.

Ever seen the episode of The Office when Michael Scott has to choose a health care plan? That's me once a year. It probably is the thing about being the head honcho at my work that I dislike the most.

We have a group plan--a good one--for 3 of our employees, including myself. Our insurance rates have been pretty stable from year to year over the past 5 years. When they do go up, there has always been a reason. Sometimes it's that someone had a ton of expenses the prior year. This year, our rates overall are going up about 27%. Most of that is due to one of our employees moving into a higher-risk age bracket.

Re: Anybody else have their Health Insurance skyrocket?

I owned a small construction company for 20 years until I was forced to close shop in 2006 due to the housing slump, at the peak I had 15 employees and I always carried a group insurance plan that had reasonable rates due to being a member of local, state, and national trade organizations. Our workers comp plan was with Ky AGC-SIF as well which is the Association of General Contractors Self Insured Fund, which gave lower rates as well.
Over the years my family rarely used our health insurance except for kids immunizations, etc., both my wife and I are like Tim T,we are in our 50's,I need reading glasses, the hard physical work I do is taking a toll on my body,my wife has a fairly physical job as well and at the time in our life when we need the insurance to help with costs, our employers/their insurance companies are raising rates ridiculously and cutting our benefits.
I have survived the recession we've been in somehow even going through a year long layoff, but this health insurance thing may be the straw that breaks the camels back. It's enough that Gas,Food,Utilities, are higher than ever, now it will be tough to take care of our health if something big happens.Never mind all the money I've paid into social security and medicare that I'll likely never see a dime of,never mind that I've worked my whole life and paid my share of taxes (not without complaints mind you),never mind that our wages have not been consistent with inflation.
I tell you what, let me quit paying taxes to every local, state, and federal govt that sticks their hand out and I will be able to pay my families own health cost, they continue to let millions of illegal immigrants enter this country and guess who is paying for them?

Re: Anybody else have their Health Insurance skyrocket?

Speaking of healthcare/coverage....a bizzare bank robbery took place in North Carolina this week, where police say the suspect robbed the bank of only $1 and then patiently waited for police to arrive.

James Verone says after handing over the note, he told the teller he'd be on a couch, waiting for police to arrive.

Verone says he was trying to get arrested because he's unemployed, broke and without health insurance.

“Cause I wanted to make it known that this wasn't for monetary reasons but for medical reasons,” he said.

Verone has a growth of some sort on his chest, two ruptured disks and a problem with his foot. He thought jail was the best place he could go for medical care and a roof over his head. He's hoping for a 3-year sentence.

Yes Glenn, mine goes up every year and the coverage gets worse. We are a small company trying to make it and that's the last kind of company the government cares about...

Re: Anybody else have their Health Insurance skyrocket?

About 15 minutes ago there was an AP News Break that is on Yahoo News titled
"A Twist in Obama's Health-care Law." Here are a couple of paragraphs taken from that news report.

"President Barack Obama's health-care law would let several million middle-class people get nearly free insurance meant for the poor, a twist government number crunchers say they discovered only after the complex bill was signed.

The change would affect early retirees. A married couple could have an annual income of about $64,000 and still get Medicaid, said officials who make long-range cost estimates for the Health and Human Services department."

Sarah Palin wasn't off her rocker when she said, "Wait until they sign the Health Care bill and then we will find out what's in it."
