Been using it foe several years, cars trucks, tractors, lawnmowers etc. A good mechanic says oil is slick and if you change regular you will be fine.
I was using Penzoil but is $4-5.00 more and I see no difference. I am a service fanatic with my things.

It goes a lot futher then that. If you ask a real mechanic he will tell you that it is all about viscosity , Its ability to hold up under pressure. Oil is not only a slick lube but it has to withstand friction and pressure of parts moving in all directions such as your connecting rods. When your engine makes combustion ( A controlled explosion) the force is put on the connecting rod to make the crank shaft move back down and the crank shaft spins a flywheel or flex plate and torque converter ( auto trans) a converter can weigh more than 100 pounds with out fluid not to mention this same crank has to push the other pistons up to make another compression or a exaust stroke. You can read about oil viscosity and it will tell you all you need to know. Doesnt matter if it is a 2 or 4 stroke..
Oh one last note here stay away from any 2 stroke oil that has ammonia smell to it.. These were some of the first blends of 2 stroke oil to hit the market back in the day the ammonia was put in there to help keep the ash deposits down.. These oils are real dirty burning oils and the ammonia would desove the ash deposits + when you mix ammonia with ethanol gas it is all bad. Ammonia by it self will cause sever rusting in cylinder walls and will eat the crome molly coating off the rings they use today.

All and all spend the 4 extra bucks and get the good stuff its just one last thing you wont have to worry about.

One last thing here folks Oil that is used for air cooled 2 stroke engines have more viscousity because the engines rev higher and run hotter but you should never use water cooled 2 stroke oil in your air cooled engines.
