Anyone have experience trolling for stripers using bluegill for bait? Thinking about trying it on the Cumberland River tailwaters.![]()

They work fairly decent. But a 5lb stripper will eat a bluegill as big as your hand no problem.
i have never trolled using live bait woulsnt they just spin in circles? does it look naturall? i always use a 4 inch artificall shad with a heavy jig head and do pretty good good enough i never tried anything diffrent lol
I've used them on the lake with good success - always bottom fishing though. Some swear if you clip the fin a little with scissors you'll do even better.
dont know about the river, but they will work at times in the lake.
used them at Lanier, they work but not the prefered bait.
They should work in the river, there are tons of bluegills in the creeks
