What would it be worth to take that little girl fishing just one more time? I know I would really love to go fishing with my Dad once more but that can never happen again on this earth. Hubby and me always manage to get on the lake and fish once or twice a week but at sometime during each trip I will always think Dad. Always with a smile of course.![]()
It makes you all warm inside when the young ones take to it. I can still remember each of my kids first fish.
I started my kids' fishing experience in a pay lake 20 plus years ago- not glamorous I know. The first few trips, i had them fishing with cheap hotdogs with liquid onion squirted on the dogs. Yes, there were some fish caught, but the fish weren't the highlight. It was things like getting some chips and pops for the cooler, bugs flying around, looking for a place to use the bathroom and singing goofy little songs as we drove to the fishing holes. Now they are grown with families of their own and I figured that those early trips were distant or forgotten memories or just something to laugh about now and then. I now actually fish small tournaments with the husband of my middle daughter. We were visiting with them earlier this past evening and my middle daughter, now 26, said "I'd like to go fishing again sometime". My heart melted on the spot. Guess who has a fishing trip in her future. Don't miss the privilege and opportunity to be a dad and make some memories.
Glad she enjoyed it. Looking forward to the day we take our girl for the first time. I have a ways to go as she is only 11 weeks old. Not wishing away these early years but it sure will be cool to get her out on the water. I have been hooked on fishing since I can remember and I was fortunate enough to have both my father and grandfather to take me. Now when we go they have to threaten me to get me off the lake. I was in a seat in a tube on Little Beach Fork river before I could walk while my father wade fished and I can't wait to get back down there this coming weekend. Hopefully we can get a few days in the boat at Willisburg as well. The memories I have of the time spent at "the farm" in springfield are priceless. Can't wait to start making some for her.
Had the same experience with my 3 1/2 old little girl a few weekends ago. Had mommy on call for backup if things didn't work out. Never made the call. She caught fish, played in the boat and didn't want to leave. Can't wait to get her back on the water.
Good stuff, nothing like watching your kids fish and have fun. My avatar pic is from two weeks ago, my 5 year old son with his first cat fish. He was pumped that he caught the biggest fish of the day.
