Re: took my girl fishing..1st time

It makes you all warm inside when the young ones take to it. I can still remember each of my kids first fish.

Re: took my girl fishing..1st time

I started my kids' fishing experience in a pay lake 20 plus years ago- not glamorous I know. The first few trips, i had them fishing with cheap hotdogs with liquid onion squirted on the dogs. Yes, there were some fish caught, but the fish weren't the highlight. It was things like getting some chips and pops for the cooler, bugs flying around, looking for a place to use the bathroom and singing goofy little songs as we drove to the fishing holes. Now they are grown with families of their own and I figured that those early trips were distant or forgotten memories or just something to laugh about now and then. I now actually fish small tournaments with the husband of my middle daughter. We were visiting with them earlier this past evening and my middle daughter, now 26, said "I'd like to go fishing again sometime". My heart melted on the spot. Guess who has a fishing trip in her future. Don't miss the privilege and opportunity to be a dad and make some memories.

Re: took my girl fishing..1st time

Glad she enjoyed it. Looking forward to the day we take our girl for the first time. I have a ways to go as she is only 11 weeks old. Not wishing away these early years but it sure will be cool to get her out on the water. I have been hooked on fishing since I can remember and I was fortunate enough to have both my father and grandfather to take me. Now when we go they have to threaten me to get me off the lake. I was in a seat in a tube on Little Beach Fork river before I could walk while my father wade fished and I can't wait to get back down there this coming weekend. Hopefully we can get a few days in the boat at Willisburg as well. The memories I have of the time spent at "the farm" in springfield are priceless. Can't wait to start making some for her.

Had the same experience with my 3 1/2 old little girl a few weekends ago. Had mommy on call for backup if things didn't work out. Never made the call. She caught fish, played in the boat and didn't want to leave. Can't wait to get her back on the water.

Good stuff, nothing like watching your kids fish and have fun. My avatar pic is from two weeks ago, my 5 year old son with his first cat fish. He was pumped that he caught the biggest fish of the day.

BigW . . There is nothing like making Kodak Moments with your little girl. I did that with mine(boys as well) There is nothing like it! Just remember that they grow up quick and so fast! One can not go back in time to re-do the undone . . so the next time she crys to go back . . . remember those words of advice They grow up before you know it and don't pass on those precious times!
I now fish with her children now, when I can. They live 700 miles away and when I go I always put my personal fishing on hold . . . bait up her rod and reels as well as the grandkids lines, remove the fish and live the wonderful memories of seeing them enjoying catching fish. Live it now for it will become a memory and a dream in due time! Good luck . . proud Dad . . .

That's what its all about. The best fishing partner I ever had (I've had a lot of them) was my son.
