I stayed at Potato Creek State Park. They have a 327 acre lake wich is electric motor only. I fished the lake twice and the St. Joseph River once. I only had an hour and a half the first day but I did get a keeper (14" min) over two pounds. The next day I fished the river and caught a bunch. There is a 12" size limit there and I caught a least two limits plus smaller ones. Also caught a couple of bluegills, redeyes and a nasty-looking toothy critter I believe was a mudfish. Most of my bass came on a white Zoom trick worm Texas-rigged or a Gulp worm (color didn't matter). Then I fished the lake again yesterday. It was so windy I had find a protected spot so my batteries would last most of the day. The rest of the time I nudged up against a stump to stay in place. I managed 12 bass that day with seven or eight being keepers. The wind was a constant 15-20 with gusts over 30. So I felt I did pretty good considering that. All the fish I caught were positioned on wood and a few in lily pads. I was in South Bend because my son had a football camp at Notre Dame. Worked out great for me![]()
