    Jug lines

My son and I was watching old Ky. afield shows on youtube and he seen Mr. Farmer setting out some jug lines and ask if I knew how to make them so he and I made some of those noodle type jugs but the one thing I don't know is how long do you make your lines?
One other question is were would be a good place to set them out on rough river.
    Thanks
I will post some pics of our catch after we get back.

    Re: Jug lines

For night fishing I usually use 2-6ft lengths , daytime much deeper unless muddy water or overcast......

I guess no one wants to give up there honey holes huh LOL.
Well let me try this then. Would i be better off to go way way way back in the creeks like panther or walter creek Maybe even georges branch or should i stay out from them some for instance take georges branch should i try to go way back past the bridge or stay on the lake side of it ? I take it there spawning now arn't they? I have never fished rough for catfish so it would be a new one for me and Chris. Of corse you could PM me any info you like.

I mainly jug T-ville but tried trolling today. I fish the main lake so I don't have to worry about getting into the trees so much...that's a pain in the butt to deal with.

LOL I thought of that but knowing my luck they would all drift right past the red line and lay right next to the dam and i would not be able to get them back or they would give me some kind of fine because they went there..
Thanks for the help. Keep them comming please.

i jug rough. if i were you i would only do limb lines right now because of the lake being flooded. those catfish aren't stupid and right as soon as they get hooked they're gonna run right for the trees but we make our jug line depth according to the place we put them. but on average we fish 5-10 ft deep. if you're going for flat heads fish in places with big rocks around. and it never hurts to put some down steep channel banks.

I kinda thought they would run to the tree's. Thanks for the info , I know were some of the places like that are. My son and I were going to go for the day I don't think he is ready for an all nighter and I would not want to leave my jugs unatended I'm sure some one would make them there's even though there taged.

    Re: Jug lines

we do ours at night because if you leave them out during the day bass and turtles get the bait before the cats do. we avoid fishing during the day because when bass hit the bluegill they usually get deep hooked and they die. but we have actually caught a guy trying to steal a fish off of our limblines. and we have found our jugs out in the middle of the lake with the hook wound up from someone taking our fish. some ppl just don't have any respect for others.

if I caught a guy checking my lines, I don't care if I had to get wet or not but I'd try my best to pull his drain plug. That would teach him
