    Re: Creek Fishing

Sounds like that creek has some decent fish in it. All creeks are different some have more trophy potential and some have better numbers. I grew up fishing Kinney and it had quality fish but I live around Lexington and fish Elkhorn now and it has great numbers. The last full day trip I took to elkhorn I fished 6 hours and caught 40 with 4 over 15 inches. In Kinney your lucky if you catch 30 in a full day but your best 3 fish from Kinney have a good shot at weighing more than your best 3 in Elkhorn. I am just talking smallies with Largemouth North Elkhorn has some hawgs and so does Kinney.

Terry, if you choose to keep fish and you are within the law, then have at it. If the population starts to decline I am sure changes in the regulations will be made (see Kentucky Lake Crappie). Some of you folks need to lighten up a bit!

Show me where it said that he didn't keep them and I will apologize. I just got back from a Canada trip and we kept some smallmouth to eat (no walleye in the lake)....but this was a big lake that gets little pressure. So I am not against eating smallies.....but from a creek....come on...thats just not smart....especially if you want to go back and catch them again.

I am far from PETA....in fact I hate them. But common sense says not to keep smallies out of a small creek/river. It takes them too long to grow big man.....I was just saying that if he wants that creek to continue to be good he should release them....which he is and that is good for him and others that fish that creek.

If he has a fishing license, he is allowed to keep whatever he wants within the limits of the body of water he is fishing. If you have a problem with it, you need to get over it. It is really none of anyone's business whether or not he keeps the fish.

Show me where he said he kept them? C'mon, Terry post too much about this subject and talks about his catch and release tournaments. I knew what he meant and am not sure why anyone would think he kept them by reading his post.

When someone post on here that "I had four limits by noon" does that mean they kept four times the legal amount?

The to top it off, all this was started by a new guy telling raincheck to "show some respect."

Lets go back Tim. I don't know Terry and don't read every post put on here like you do. The post he made said " I had my limit". To me, that sounded like he was keeping them.....if not why not just say I caught X amount of smallies?.....which again I know now that he isn't keeping them. I don't really care about that particular creek, or if people keep legal fish. Just because it is legal doesn't mean it is the smart thing to do.....but since you already know everything....you know that. You criticize people on here all the time for something they say or did.....and then get onto me for voicing a very practical opinion. Then in the end, we (me, you, and raincheck) basically have the same opinion on keeping smallies from a creek. If you go back and read my original post on this thread you should sense some sarcasm and humor.....hence the smiley face. I'm not sure about the new guy you mentioned, but I was posting some advice from experience. I live near a small, rocky creek that has ( or had) some really nice smallies in it....saw a guy taking some out once and know he did it more than once....and guess what....not nearly as many 16-19 in. fish now. To my surprise, when asked he said he was putting them in aquariums.
