Naw, was a bob cat. I lived in that area, the property we lived on was all hill and holler, I found several caves that were capable of supporting such an animal, and loved treking through the woods, never saw any tracks of anything larger than a bob cat. I could walk out our back door, and not see a house for almost two miles in one area. We had coyotes come as close as twnty yards from the house. Were we remote? 700 ft of water line, same for power. Deer, turkeys, grouse, quail, possum, and racoons. We loved it, most folks thought we were sort of tetched, but living in the city made both of us love the seclusion. Never locked the doors, even forgot to take the keys out of the car once when we left for the winter.

Bobcat for sure but extremely cool video and very rare to get that close to one without spooking it. Thanks for the video, very cool indeed.

I first saw them there 2 yrs ago. There is a nesting pair on the second bend from Chowning going to Van Buren....right before the lake opens up. The nest is a bout 4 foot high/deep and about 40 ft up the tree. It's always cool to see them. One flew over me...maybe 50 foot up and I got a cell phone pic of it and even with the cell you could tell it was a bald eagle.

I got within 10 yards of a bobcat ground hunting deer in Morgan Co. Scared the brown down my leg so I pulled the hammer back and it froze paw up staring at me. She stared at me for about 5 seconds (was like 5 years) then bolted back down the creek. I have seen another 1 in the same area this time in a tree stand. Cool video and very rare to get that close to 1!!

Re: Mountain lion at Dale. What a cool Dale trip!

Two years ago my friend and I launched my boat at the Cumberland River ramp in Burkesville and ran up river. We floated back down and fished the bank as we came back down. We were about 20 or 30 feet off the bank casting and suddenly there was a bobcat going up river along the waters edge. I was too surprised to get a picture if I had a camera. No doubt about what it was and it did not appear concerned about us floating closely by on the water. We quit fishing and watched it until it went out of sight. It certainly helped make our day.

According to KDFW there are no cougars in KY. There have been sightings but nothing confirmed. I'm sure that years past there used to be a population, and I don't doubt there may be a few individual big cats. But as of now the KDFW does not recognize cougars in KY.

I agree that KDFW doesn't recognize cougars in Ky, but I recognized the smell of the load I loafed in my pants when it first popped down onto the bank. I saw it real good for about 30 seconds before...funny....I thought of everyone on this board would like to see what was going on. It had a VERY tan mono tone body. The shear size of it is the biggest reason I question Bobcat. The Mt Lion sightings I saw online tells me also bobcat, but my mind remembers what popped down and it had a real dark mouth and a swooshing side to side tail that went to the ground behind it. I don't claim to know as I have never been close to either, but I do know either way, as soon as I saw it, in an instant, I thought of Fishin.com. Lol

Everyone has their opinion, as I expected.
