    Another hobby......just what I needed!
Welcome to the fold Don! And you thought fishing was addictive, just wait!

Don't listen to all the haters, its just because they can't hit that little ball straight..haha!

To bad...I just sold three sets of irons on Ebay that you could have bought! It is a full time job keeping up with two hobbies like golf and fishing....its tough, but someone has to do it! Bienvenidos!

Thanks Rich. Like anything I do I jump in with both feet so I see much money being spent! I'm using my friends Ping Eye 2 copperhead red dots with graphite shafts? Something like that! LOL I know they are sweet! At least I'm being told that. Prolly why I hit a few nice balls...it's the clubs!
I'll see what I like as I spend more time with different golfers and learn what fits me.

I know you guys are getting tired of my"good ole daze", I used to golf when I first got married, and before that. No golf carts!Wood shafts. And long walks. Then it was considered a sport, hobby, and good exercise. And it was cheap!!

Drive for SHOW, Putt for DOUGH

If you really want to SCORE at golf then spend 4 times as long at the Practise Putting Green than on the Driving Range. My first round was at the age of 22 and I shot 112 at Sportland in Winchester. That was the only time I ever shot over 100. Last round was right at 9 years ago when health problems started and then surgeon told me to never swing a club again. Gave all my stuff to my brother and miss it severely. Ended up shooting 74-80 on a regular basis with best round being 70 on same Sportland Goat Ranch. My 2 biggest advantages over the guys I regularly played with was I advanced the ball down the fairway and could chip and putt. I rarely sculled a shot or hit a worm burner as they say and was pretty good around and on the greens. Learn to chip and run and forget the flop shot when chipping. Use 5-6-7 iron bump and runs to keep the ball low and hit the green to run to the hole. Straight back straight thru on putts and keep head down until ball is halfway to the hole before looking at it. The rest is Practise Practise

Man I hit the same lake from last Fall that was topwater heaven (from the Yaks)this past Sunday. Managed 10 in a few hours but that heat was too much. Tubes tubes and tubes.

There's not a sport you'll love as much that will frustrate you as much....I've played since I was 12 but choose fishing over golf nowadays but it is as addictive as it gets....A guy I grew up playing against is now on the PGA tour and just watching somebody like that keeps you wanting to get better

I've been playing since I was 12 myself and I'm now 32. The last 7 years of bass fishing has really cut into my golf time. I'm thinking I should have stuck with golf because I was much better at golf than fishing.

#1 Have you invested in a "Foot-Wedge" yet for your bag?
#2 The pencil is an amazing scoring tool.
#3 Distance is over rated. If you're straight, you can play anywhere.
#4 Either learn how to putt and chip well....or take up Checkers.
#5 Distance is over rated. If you're straight, you can play anywhere.

That's about all you really need to know.

Oh, and never use the ball-washer on a hole that contains a water hazard. It's like smiting the Golf Gods and you will pay severely.

Seriously though, it's a process of learning that takes awhile. I've been playing since college and I'm just now to the point where I'm fairly consistent, know what I can and can't do...I can probably show you a few things that will either (1) save you some time and money, or (B) jack you up seven ways from Sunday. That's the beauty of this #@$!%^ game.
