Got an email from my Homeowner's Association this morning. They always make my blood boil...because they are usually about some kind of piddly insignificant crap that real people don't have time for. That, and I just have problems in general with people telling me what I can and can't do on my own property. (Within reason, of course.)
I have actually received "citations" for this one...because my trash can, God forbid, was less than 10' back on the side of my house. I mean, seriously?

The Chilesburg Advisory Board has recieved a large number of complaints from neighbors about residents improperly placing their trashcans in unacceptable locations. We we like to remind everyone of the importance of following the Covenants and becoming familiar with them. Below is Section 2.11 of the Design Guidelines & Deed Restrictions Summary which outlines approved locations of placing your garbage cans. The Design Guidelines & Deed Restrictions Summary in its entirety can be found under 'Documents' on our website.
2.11 Garbage Cans
Garbage containers are not permitted to be stored in front of any portion of the house. Garbage containers must be stored in one of the following four pre-approved locations:
·
Inside the garage
· Inside an enclosed structure at the side of the house
· Behind the house
· At the side of the house provided that they are a minimum of 10? behind the nearest corner of the homeowner?s house or the neighbor?s house, whichever is farthest from the street. If this distance cannot be accomplished, then the trashcans should be screened with fencing or evergreen plants that screen the trashcans from view of the street and the adjoining neighbor. Garbage containers should be retrieved within 12 hours after collection.
Thank you for your cooperation.

I really...really...REALLY wish I had done the proper homework about Neighborhood Associations before we bought our house a couple years back. Shame on me.
And I have to pay $150 a year to fund this crap...![]()
