    Budget Fiasco

I hear a lot of you guys rattling your sabers about how to fix this (seemingly) unfixable monster we have been saddled with and it seems a whole lot of folks, not just you guys, seem to think our welfare losers are to blame for most of it ...It is sad that some folks don't have enough pride in themselves to earn their way but there seems to be some that don't ...I don't know exactly what the budget numbers are but it looks like maybe a third or so goes to programs like unemployment and welfare which seems like a lot to me but considering the deficit seems to be even larger than that ...Even if we did away with that whole piece of the pie we would still have a deficit ...I'm not sure what you guys would do with the folks who actually depend on these programs, I guess maybe we could just throw them under the bus ...I do believe that most of the folks who get assistance from these programs do actually need it ...As of yet we haven't adopted a program to rid ourselves of the portion of society that either can't or won't provide for themselves ...I believe if folks like Mr. Fisher could design our country the way he seemingly would like it to be we would be equal to a lot of the third world countries we see on the news. if you aren't one of the elite who control the wealth then if you have to live in squalor then so be it ...Personally I believe we still have a good country to live in as a whole and we don't allow folks to starve as of yet.

The common sense approach to fixing it can be summed up by a recent quote from Warren Buffett; "I could end the deficit in 5 minutes. You just pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election."

    Sounds like it might work...

I believe our country needs some sort of legislation similar to this ...I would almost be willing to bet there is enough wasted resources in every facet of the budget to balance it if we could manage to elect politicians who did the job we ask them to do instead of horse trading amongst themselves to please the folks who helped them buy their way into office, and I'm not talking about a "Tea party" that seems to be hell bent on ruining our economy.

What is it that the Tea Party is doing that means they are hell bent on ruining our economy?

I do believe they have their hearts in the right place but I don't believe a half century of less than great decisions by our governing body can be fixed by snapping your fingers and that seems to be what they are attempting to do ...Being inflexible isn't always the best course of action and they seem to have a desire to paint the dirty wall with one brush stroke ...I don't believe shutting down the government is the answer to the problems we have but it seems at least some of these new politicians want to do just that ...Raising the debt ceiling ought to be detestable to to every American but at this point I don't see an alternative, After this fiasco is over I hope they don't sink to a "business as usual" stance which I suspect they will the same as it has always been in the past, "let the next guy worry about it" is the reason we are in the mess we are in today. These "Tea Party" politicians will soon start looking toward a career in Washington and the special interest groups will replace their desire to 'do the right thing'... If they want to fix this mess we are in, I seriously doubt the road to accomplishing that will be the same road to re-election.

Well for sure something has to be done. If it takes radical thinking that gets tempered to something reasonable then thats a far cry better than what these irresponsible legislators have been doing for years.

I take any statement said from anyone in Washington as 75% bulldung, 24% self serving and 1% truth which means I don't trust them at all. I really don't think I have seen a more crooked, self serving, inefficient, waste of skin group of bold face liars in my whole life.

If you look at history most great nations have fallen at one time or another, we are a realitivety young country, still, compared with others, so maybe it is our time to fail, like the roman empire, and others that have fallen due to the practice of greed for profit, to benifit no others than oneselves We cannot fix this budget until all are held resposible for this mess, fix this mess, and put aside their personal agendas, and work together, this will never happen here in this country as greed and power have replaced common sense and decitity, The 2% that run this country dont give a hoot about the other 98%, It is sad, we are in for a fall, history is always right.

Everyone remember that comedian on the redneck comedy tour, the one who likes bourbon and cigars I think....I remember him saying you can't fix stupid or something like that.

Kind of reminds me of our government...for instance, California Governor Jerry Brown signed into law on Monday a bill allowing illegal immigrants to receive privately funded scholarships to attend the state's public colleges and universities. The bill, dubbed the California Dream Act, passed the state Legislature earlier this month and aims at helping illegal immigrants who earned a diploma after attending at least three years of high school in the state.

    1. What are illegals doing attending any public high school in the United States to begin with?
    2. To stick the knife further in the middle class Americans back these illegals can be eligible for "privately funded" scholarships?
    3. Meanwhile....how much money are we throwing at protecting our borders to catch these illegals?

Way to much money being wasted here....and this is just one example of government....part of the government money goes towards protecting our borders while another part goes to letting the illegals go to school here. What a waste!! Sad but true, when it comes to our government it's becoming more and more clear everyday that you really can't fix stupid.
