    Fishing Clubs

Does anyone know of any good fishing clubs in Southern Indiana (Evansville area)? I would really like to see a good crappie fishing club in the Tri-State area that includes Patoka, Kentucky/Barkley Lake, Rend? Does anyone know if something like this already exists and if it doesn't how to get started on it?

I know of a crappie fishing club that's up North but none in the Evansville Metro Area. Indiana Slabmasters started up a crappie fishing club this year or last year.

I took up crappie fishing around 2003 and fish Bluegrass, Otter, Loon and Kentucky Lake for crappie. Haven't been out much this summer due to the heat and was out of commission this spring due to some problems with my truck and boat. Just waiting for the heat to die down a bit before I get the boat back out.

I like the idea of a club that would help other's learn new fishing tech and or a clud that would exchange fishing tips and information. I'm not that keen on competative fishing for money though. But I have participated in a few friendly crappie fishing tournamtents.

For me it's all just about getting outdoors and enjoying the surroundings. I like getting out in Natural settings as much as catching fish.

That is what I thought as well. There are several fisherman in the Evansville area. Just a place to discuss tips and techniques about different fishing styles and species. It would also be neat just to have some friendly competitive tournaments. Maybe once a month or so. We have several lakes around us that would be nice to use. Patoka, Rend, Kentucky, and there are smaller areas like Bluegrass, Glendale, etc. I just don't know how to get started with it. Seems like I was told you had to apply for a permit at the state and possibly get insurance. Kind of takes the fun out of fishing.

I was just looking for a club where people could talk about fishing and actually fish with and against each other if they so desire. Not sure how many people are actually interested in it. One way to do the competitive thing is to have a points system and a voluntary jackpot. That way anyone who fishes can get points, but only has to pay if they want to be in the voluntary jackpot.

Well, if you dont want to fish for money, then you dont need a permit. Only if people are competing for cash/prizes do you need to get a permit and all that. Call DNR, they will tell you the same thing.

As for getting something like that started - have people that are interested start meeting some place like a restaurant or something. If you have enough people, you guys can make it a regular thing to get together and talk about fishing and then go fishing together. Try to work around everyone's schedule, if you can.

I live in East-Central and hardly ever come south except during the spring. So, Im out
