The altenator should keep that battery good. As far as putting it on charge I would think hooking to the battery would be best. Might add some cables off of the battery to a place easier to get to.

Does anyone know if it is ok to charge your cranking battery right on the motor itself. The red and black from the battery goes to the altenator on the outboard motor so why can't I just hook my charger up there? Just bought this boat and the cranking battery is hard to get to as it is under a extended platform built by the previous owner. Any advice would be appreciated.
