Re: Redneck Bonefish on the Fly!!

I'm interested in learning this and yes Taylorsville would be a good place to try, especially in Van Buren section. I fly fish quite a bit, but just started targeting some carp in the creeks. Which flies do you use? This has been my biggest challenge so far. I assume you don't mind sharing since this is a rough species.

    Thanks.

You can google "carp on the fly" and get tons of info. This link has good info on the different types of moods these fish can be in.

For me mudders are in deeper water and I either don't feel the "take" or don't see it so I've missed more fish that way. I like'm really, really shallow so you can watch them hunt down the fly and take it!! Still learning a ton every time I'm out! This weekend is starting to look crappy though...

When I fish Trammel Creek behind our farm in Allen County I always see cruising fish, but I usually spook them making too much noise wading... I think creek fish seem spookier though... Never really targeted them with my 3/4 wt though.... This guy was working around a tree and would come out look around and then go back around the tree... When he came out I lead him and was doing short strips as the fly went right in front of him. He saw the fly, turned on it and sucked it up instantly!! Very cool eat!!!
