The house and Senate just voted to RAISE the debt ceiling.
I don't give a CRAP about all the other junk in the bill........the fact that they authorized the government to SPEND 2.5 trillion more dollars that we DON'T have really, really honks me off.
Fiscal responsibility......what a dead idea.

President Obama calls it "an important first step for ensuring that as a nation we don't live beyond our means."
Hmmph???
You know, I was raised kind of simple really. Work very hard, buy whatever makes you happy as long as you can afford it based on the money you have in the bank, the steady paycheck you have coming every week, and the obligations you are signed on for. Make sure to save a little for a rainy day, because things can change. If you can do those things, you've done something.
I don't exactly understand how asking for an increase in your credit card limit is a real good way to ensure that you don't live beyond your means.
I guess I need to be enlightened. Maybe I've been doing it all wrong so far in my relatively short life. Apparently, printing more money and asking for credit line increases are the real answers to life's financial woes.
Give me a break.
Wouldn't a better way to "ensure that we don't live beyond our means" be to cut out a lot of the crap we are spending money on that is ridiculous? Instead, our answer to living within our means appears to be raising the credit limit...effectively increasing the means and potential debt.
It's like giving an 18 year old college freshman a Platinum VISA with a $25K limit and being astounded when he's $25K in debt his sophomore year. "But Dad, I'll only use it when I have to." Yeah.
If my monthly bills exceed my monthly income, I have 3 options:
(1) Ask the bank for a higher credit limit.
or
(2) Make more money so I can afford my stuff.
or
(3) BUY LESS CRAP!!!
Which seems more fiscally responsible to you?
Congressman Mack proposed a solution to this debt problem that is SO SIMPLE that it is stupid....but guess what......the MORONS on the hill didn't even take it up for a simple vote.

Basically, it reduces spending 1% a year for the next 6 years. By 2019, the budget is balanced......
It would save 7 trillion dollars over 10 years. 3 times what the current CRAP does.
It would reduce spending, and SLOW the growth of government.
Best of all the bill was less than 1/2 a page long........WOW.
Time to throw them all out of office.

Instead of paying off the credit card.....let's ask for a higher credit line! Brilliant!
Yeah this kind of stuff gets old. The bull that comes outta Washington has got to stop. I will vote for anyone new from now on. They basically said we are all to stupid to know when we are getting shafted.
I know our country is not what it was back in the 90's and on my way to work yesterday, I had to stop in traffic. they were putting up new guardrail, and as I was looking at the guardrail they were taking down, I though it isn't as bright and shinee as the new, but it's such a waste of money to chance it. it would last another 50 or 75 years at least. and all I hear is tax dollars wasted, and I was thinking there are so many people in the country that need a job, without spending tax dollars on things that are wasteful. how could they make jobs for everyone. I guess it's where our family pay check comes from, where it looks like it's a waste of tax dollars or not. theres a lot of things, that I could list as a waste of tax dollars, but if any one of the items on the list was something that I worked at, to bring home a paycheck to feed my kids and pay my bills. I wouldn't think it to be a waste of tax dollars. I have no idea what it will take to fix our broken country, and I don't think the rich guys in washington does either. when I think of wasted tax dollars, the main thing that comes to mind is, the amount of tax dollars that have been spent in the last 12 years on the wars going on. I don't know the total over the last 12 years, but I did see a news statment, that said the total tax dollars spent for the year 2010 was 700 Billion yes with a B.
Fighting Muslim extremists was not a waste of my tax dollars.......I simply find it amazing that so many folks think that PROTECTING our way of life is a waste of money.
I'm not going to rail about muslim expansionism, because I'm tired of trying to get my point of view across......some people simply won't ever get it.
BUT I will say this......Back in 1936 when Hitler was an unknown, it took a scant 3 years for him to become the most vile person in the world. By 1941 the entire world was at war, by 1945 a few million people were dead on all sides.
Pretty much all because of a madman and an ideology......
Personally, I'm glad someone had the nads necessary to take care of this building problem before it became another worldwide ideology.
Wasteful..........no.........necessary...........Y ES...........
AND this fight will be necessary for generations to come.

Geo i agree, only problem i have is why can't the rest of the world help pick up part of tab??? Larry
If a man and wife can make "just enough money" (as little as possible) to satisfy the government....then I'm all for him and her making as much tax free money as they can....sure this sounds un-American, and really it is...Can't stand to see folks abuse the system persay...but what the heck....why go out and earn your living and pay out 33% or so in taxes to the tax man when all he's going to do is spend it ridiculously, when you could keep that money in your own pocket and save it or spend it as you see fit to do so.
Kind of feels like I'm in the mind set of stick it to the government before they stick it to you. It ain't right...it just ain't right.

I got a funny email about the IRS being ticked off at someone who claimed 12 million illegal immigrants,4 million unemployable Americans,534 representatives, congressmen, and the potus, and x amount on welfare as dependants on their tax return.![]()
