It seems like a lot of people have the same mindset. If a man and wife can make "just enough money" (as little as possible) to satisfy the government....then I'm all for him and her making as much tax free money as they can....sure this sounds un-American, and really it is...Can't stand to see folks abuse the system persay...but what the heck....why go out and earn your living and pay out 33% or so in taxes to the tax man when all he's going to do is spend it ridiculously, when you could keep that money in your own pocket and save it or spend it as you see fit to do so.
Kind of feels like I'm in the mind set of stick it to the government before they stick it to you. It ain't right...it just ain't right.

That video raised my eyebrows when I watched it, and a 10-second Google search reveals that it's mostly false information.

Probably 90% or more of the discussion on the dept ceiling was pure politics. The dept ceiling has been raised under every president since Reagan. Congress critters who were so opposed to raising it this time were all for it under Bush. Many congress critters who were all for it this time opposed it under Bush. While I agree with the sediment that given our current state of financial affairs, we do not need to be borrowing more money, the US defaulting on our current depts is a much bigger issue. Basically, it would be similar to me declaring bankrupcy and not paying off my depts. If I borrown money, I should be responsible for paying it back. Same for the government. The US has borrowed money to pay its depts, therefore, is responsible for paying it back. We would be in a bigger mess if we defaulted. The politicing that turned this into a crisis rather than just deal with it also caused more harm than good.
I certainly agree with several others here that it is way past time to throw a bunch of these bums out of office. As another reminder why they need to go, this morning I heard on the news that the FAA deal has still not been worked out. Because of this, 4000 workers have been furloughed, safety inspectors are now working without pay, a number of current construction projects have been put on hold, and the US will lose around $1 billion in tax revenue. Great, just what we need right now: less jobs and less revenue. And what does congress do? Why, its time for recess, see you in September! You know, if I told my boss that I was going on vacation even though I had not completed some important work before hand, I would not come back to a job. So why does congress thing that this is ok? May be its time to recall a bunch of them to send them a message.

I only wish our government was ran like a private business. He who won't do their job gets fired. If you spend more money than you make then you're out of business. I know it's not an easy fix but something has got to change. I just get sick of all the political tug of war that goes on that benefits no one. Our elected officials sit in nice offices wasting money and playing childish playground games. We just get to pay for it. I vote in every election and feel that it doesn't matter. I sure wish old Ross could run now.![]()
I don't really know what happened to him but his ideas really sound good to me now.
The thing I remember most about Perot is when he was on television to debate or sell himself or whatever it was, that he didn't only talk, but he also brought charts to show where money was being spent and how money could be spent more wisely, etc....I think he even gave some time frames in which he could get the debt under control.
I googled him...come to find out at an estimated 3.4 Billion Dollars worth of wealth he's the "99th" richest person in the U.S. (I'd like to know who in the heck the other 98 people are that are worth more than 3.4 Billion dollars??!!!).
I don't think foriegn policy was his strong suit but I did like his ideas on ending the outsourcing of American jobs.
Good lord man....we DESPARATELY need a true leader to step up to the plate for the next Presidential race!!
Ross Perot was and is a BRILLIANT business man. He understands how to make money and how NOT to LOOSE IT. He is very high strung and emotional and lets it show sometimes. Unfortunately this MAMBY PAMBY sing Coombaya Sissy spineless society we live in today can't handle that. Oh God he'll get mad freak out and bomb somebody, Oh the Horror..........................God I HATE WUSSIES!
