Ok, so I am just gonna say it. I wacked 'em. 50 fish today, 7-8 were keepers. I got there at 6:30, poked around a couple spots. Went to my spot at 7:30 and wacked em. Till it started raining. Then I stopped for a little while. After it quit raining, I wacked em. Topwater. I only had one rod out all day. Two baits. That's it. I felt like I was on an episode of Strike King Pro Team Journal, except I told you where I was and I wasn't pushing some Strike King product, I also wasn't sitting there catching fish after fish and saying stuff like "I thought I was gonna get on them a little better." Anyways, I haven't ever experienced this kind of success while fishing. Usually if I catch 8 and one is a keeper I believe I had a pretty good day. This is unprecendented to me. So, yeah, I was pretty stoked.

That makes two of us, I was there also. Put in at Dog Creek, ran out to main lake towards the islands, and TOTALLY SMOKED EM ! Like you said, a bunch of keeper Bass, Me & my partner threw nothin but topwaters. We actually caught em better after they went down and werent chasing bait on top, Probably lost the best fish of the year y-day. Sounds like we both had an awesome day, Congrats !!
Sounds like the ones you were on may have been a little better quality. My keepers averaged around 2.25 lbs. I wasn't on main lake though, I was up in a creek in pretty much the same two areas the whole time. Either way my thumbs are rough from teeth and I am sore. But is a good hurtThat makes two of us, I was there also. Put in at Dog Creek, ran out to main lake towards the islands, and TOTALLY SMOKED EM ! I guess the moral of the story is, no matter how bad people talk about Nolin, there are a ton of fish in there, it is just a matter of finding them, or in this case, them finding us. I've fished it for years, it is my favorite lake, I just wish they would hurry up and finish Cumberland so all the dickboats go back and we can have a little peace on the weekends.
haven't heard anyone saying Nolin wasn't good for fishing? Just gotta remember 100% water yet 10% has fish.
I have had better luck at nolin the last 2 years than ever before. I bet i have caught more quality fish from nolin in the last 2 years than i had for the last 10 years. I have a place at nolin and im loving the fishing there.
How dare anyone talk about my NRL being no good!Your trip brings back wonderful days that I have spent on NRL...just tearing them up on top, and looking around for the camera to catch all the action...felt like I should be on a show or something, haha!
I'm planning on hitting it up this week...can't wait! Thanks for the report.
Oh yeah, by the way, were you tearing them up on the North or South end of the lake? Thx.

I was closer to the dam. But some other people were whackin' em mid lake. I usually stay between Moutardier and the dam. They haven't consistently been in one area. I just cruise around until I see some jumps then I sit and wait to see where the highest concentration of the jumps are and start casting into that area.

I don't bass fish a whole lot, but I got a chance to take my boat and spend Sat. and Sun. at Nolin and I had a good time! I fished early both mornings. I didn't do much good on Sat. I spent most of the time finding my way around and looking for those jumps..caught three short fish on flukes. Sunday was much better, I got out at 5:30 am, after a couple hours gave up on looking for jumps and went old school...I put a 10' purple worm on, Texas rigged and found some fish deep on the walls back in Dog creek. I caught about 10 Ky bass, and missed about 7, before the pleasure boaters made it tough to fish. My biggest fish was maybe 3.5 lb. I'm looking forward to going back, I think that lake is full of fish!
Sounds like we are fishing the same water...I've never even gone about Moutardier for the jumps. Just curious...thx!I was closer to the dam. But some other people were whackin' em mid lake. Just for fun, have you ever tried the double Zulu rig before? It is a blast for the jumps at NRL....in case you haven't, here is what you do:
Take two (perferably two different sizes)..two-way swivels...put the smaller one on your line so it is free sliding...then tie the bigger one on the end so that the littler one slides down and stops on it. Then, tie 12" of line onto the bigger swivel, then add a fluke....tie 6" of line onto the free-sliding, smaller swivel, and tie another fluke on it. This rig is KILLER! Can't even count how many times I've caughten two at a time on it! Talk about fun! Anyways, just thought you might want to try it out, GL!
