Man, I really wish I had the article link and now I cannot find it..............but A couple days ago while listening to one of my crazy right wing radio hosts, he stated that the Bush tax cuts if they were repealed today would add about 3.7 trillion dollars over the 10 year projection.......

THAT is a CRAPLOAD of money right...........sure it is...BUT then he stated that folks need to REALLY understand just exactly what they are asking for. Of that 3.7 trillion, raising the top bracket back to pre Bush tax levels would only generate 800 billion dollars..

Yes MY FRIENDS........2.9 TRILLION dollars of the Bush Tax Cuts would fall directly on the middle class. Those making 250k and BELOW.....wow.

Do you guys realize that Bush ALSO lowered the tax brackets for low income folks. Repealing the BUSH TAX CUTS would pound folks making less than 20k.

    HM........

Of course we realize that, that's old news. And that is exactly why Democrats haven't been pushing for letting them all expire, only the ones for individuals making >200k/year or couples making >250k/year. I don't suppose your right-wing radio host mentioned that? And that $800 billion number is the lowest I've heard. I'm pretty sure most estimates put it over a trillion. That's a trillion dollars shaved off the deficit, without raising taxes on any individual making less than $200,000/year, or any married couples making less than $250,000. But no, of course we can't have that! Not with Grover Norquist holding so many Republicans by the short hairs.

I didn't know it...........I I still wish before we try to force those on the top to pay more that we'd at least try to collect some taxes from folks that don't pay a DIME. I mean really..........Even if you are SCRAPING by, you should be able to pay 5%. EVERYONE in this country should be required to pay some taxes. I've NEVER not paid taxes. Even when I was a very poor mofo, I still paid taxes. My wife and I even when I started out and made less that CRAP......I didn't apply or NOR take any gubment handouts.

I WANT everyone in this country.......POOR or not to have some stake in the tax revenues paid......Once they have an equitable stake in tax paying, THEN we can talk about raising taxes.

And you know what..........this could easily be one of those silly play on words that everyone in Washington loves. It's not a tax increase, they are simply limiting a tax credit that EARNED income recipients receive.

I have one better than that.......FREEZE the COLA that that is included every year. That will be a 6% decrease for next year.......Imagine that.

Not big at all on political discussions and don't sit on either side of the fence particularly...So let's tax the rich more, let the poor pay none, and eventually we'll all be equal...And the country still won't be able to see daylight out from under our debt...Sounds like socialism to me

If your talking about the COLA for Social Security recipients I don't think here has been one for the past couple of years and not going to be one this year either.

Reason #1 that my dad hates Obama.
