Got out to Banklick today for about an hour after work. The water was surprisingly down and clear. I was expecting the exact opposite since we had that real bad storm 2 days ago. The creek recovered very quickly though. I started out throwing a Rebel Bumblebug and hooked into a few longear sunfish. Most were pretty fun as they were top water bites, not to mention really pretty fish, But that's not what I'm after. I'm a bass guy. So I decide to swith it up to a tube jig.... And let the games begin! Very quickly landed 3 smallmouth. All between 10-12 inches. Then lost 3 more due to poor hooksets. Then I find a big tree over hanging the bank and with a picture perfect cast, placed my tube jig directly in between the roots. Give it a couple twitches and BOOM! Hooked into this spotty. This thing felt like a whale on my 7 1/2 ft BPS MicroLite rod. Very fun fight! Got her in, snapped a couple pics and back into the creek she went to fight another day. Very next cast I hooked a smallmouth just an inch or two shy of the spotty but really fat. Once again, another awesome fight! I attempted to get a pic of the smallie but as I was digging in my pocket for my phone she wiggled loose from my hand and fell back into the water. By this time it was time to pack it up and head home. 12 fish in one hour makes for a pretty darn good day of fishing!
