I'm planning on catfishing on the bank of the Ohio river tomorrow. Were planning to fish for catfish. Does anyone have a preference on which catfish bait catches the biggest fish? Also has anyone ever fished at greenwood boat docks?
Options are endless but you can try some live or cut blue gills and if you can get them , Flat heads love those sun fish .. I assume you don't have a boat but if you did or could find some to buy cut skipjack and shad are all way's a favorite. I wouldn't worry to much about using the bigger bait as this is the time of year when all fish are eating other small fish that is about 2 to 4 inches long. Cats are opatumistic ( I'm sure I spelled that wrong Sorry) feeders and eat what ever they find but the more oily and bloody the better. I Would if given the choice go to west point boat ramp and fish.
Oh if you can go to one of the little pounds in louisville and catch a bunch of little blue gills the guts on a hook are killer for chanel cats. Try to keep your bait alive and if not put them in zip lock bags on ice If you put them strait on ice they will have a clorine smell to them and the cats don't like it. Another good bait to use is yellow belly cat fish just cut fin off the top and try to keep them alive. Tight lines. If you look back trough some of the pages here you will find lots of info about catfish baits.
