Probably chubs, they are a nuisance in every creek I've ever been too around here. Pflyer, clearly you've been FFin' for years, why didn't you root around some rocks and see what they were eating? Even right up where they were feeding, if your striking out that much, it's always worth it to run some fish off a lie to see what their eating.
Actually Deadrift, I've been FFing for less than 3 years. I am concentrating now on casting and proper knot tying. Once I feel like I have these two foundtions down I plan to concentrate on entomology and fly tying. If I had rooted around in the rocks I would'nt have known what I was looking at (with mayflies that I see flying I just try to match the size with something in my box.) In fact, I'm asking Santa Claus for a fly tying kit and bug/fly reference books this year!Probably chubs, they are a nuisance in every creek I've ever been too around here. I've been an avid bass and panfish fisherman for nearly 30 years but I am completely addicted to FFing now. I have place at Nolin so I have been getting casting practice off my dock and catchin lots of gills...fun but not as much fun as an 18 inch trout! Looking forward to October and Nevember on Otter Creek.
Thanks to all for the info.
