Dix River

The bass fishing starts at the thermal break between the cold water discharge and the water backed up by the Ky River. It is usually not hard to tell where this is because there is usually a scum line or debris field. The bass fishing continues from there back to the mouth of the KY. That part of the river used to be so good that Pond Hoppers had tournaments there. I have not bass fished there for a while, but soft plastics would slay them a few years ago around all the dead falls (tubes, worms, craws, etc.). I never caught anything huge, but they were nice river largemouths.

I have done ok with 12-13" bass and have seen some 3# plus get caught as well. These were caught earlier in the year and between the cold/warm transition and the Ky River.

I have fished it several times this year. Usually leave around 5pm and stay till dusk so I can get back to load right at or before dark.
Have had a few 20+ days. Rainbows are the prevailing trout there I think, and the stripers / hybrids and white bass are awesome. This is usually what makes up the 20 fish however, there are some bass, trout and walleye or sauger in there too. You can catch everything from gar and drum to BASS and CRAPPIE.
It can be Awesome but it can be tough too. I like to throw Fat Raps, shad raps, tiny traps, and tubes.
