    Casting Rods

I have been considering a PG Carrot Stix and a Skeet Reese casting rod and would appreciate any comments/recommendations if you have experience with either - pros, cons, etc. Thanks.

    Re: Casting Rods

I have heard that they are having some problems with both of those rods. For about the same money I would look at the ABU Veritus Rods.

The Veritas's are snapping like crazy...I know a guy that snapped one, got it replaced with a brand new one, next trip out snapped it....The reviews for them aren't very good either

I highly recommend the Veritas, I don't know what people are catching to snap them but I have two and they are my favorite rods. I fish 4-5 times a week and have never had any issues with them other than their awesomeness.

    Re: Casting Rods

I was at Basspro in Nashville the other day and was talking to the guys about some of the Rods. (I am a Loomis man and am thinking of selling some of my rods to try a new line). I talked to them about the Carrot Stix and He says that you can find them all over the internet and craigslist etc. for way less than cost as people are trying to get rid of them like bad habits. Response was that they have multiple issues. I didn't pursue it because I'm not interested in them. He went on to say other rods in his inventory also had issues, including skeet reese rods and some others I was not familiar with. He did say that the Quantum Smoke rod was a good rod for the money, but I have never used it. I am looking at going to the TFO Gary Loomis signature series rods. 99.99 with a lifetime warranty. They feel Awesome. SOOOOO If anyone is looking to buy a few Loomis Rods let me know

    Re: Casting Rods

Thanks to all for your thoughts. Hope I am not disappointed, but I was in Dicks Evansville on Tuesday and noticed their $150 6'-9" Carrot Stix appeared to have had a sale tag on it at one time. I asked one of the employees to check it and it was reduced to $130. Went back Wednesday on another matter and for whatever reason asked that it be checked again. Overnite it had been reduced by 50% to $65. I ended up getting it after applying 2 - $10 rewards certificates so the $150 rod ended up costing me $45. Will be using it Friday so we will see.

hey for $45 it won't be as bad if it breaks. but i'm a falcon man myself. they're very sensitive and won't burn a hole in your wallet.

I buy what ever feels good to me and suits my needs. Price is a big factor to me and the only time I've ever had a rod snap has been because of my own account.

    Re: Casting Rods

I recently bought a Duckett Crankin stick and I absolutely love it!!! I own a plethora of rods and I have had great sucess with veritas, vendetta's and I just bought the verdict and all of them are awesome rods from the Abu Garcia line in my opinion, I have swung no less than (10) 3 pounders in the boat with the veritas with no issues and the same with the vendetta's. But as far as crankin rods I will buy another duckett to have incase of catastrophy cause I just plain love that rod and I have it paired with a lews speed spool 5:4-1
