Started using it in '06 on Ky Lake. It works! Double Fluke rig is what I've always known it as. Also have used it up north on clear water for smallies with good results.
I don't understand why they said it's good for topwater - my rig runs a foot or two below the surface and even deeper if I let it fall longer. I also like the baits to run on the same length of leader, I feel like I get more action that way.
I have seen that rig years ago, Clunn was the first I remember using it. I always heard it called a donkey rig as well. I know a guy that used to fish the old Bassmaster Top 100's before the Elite Series came around. He always kept a rod rigged for this in the summer just for schooling fish.
I also use the double fluke rig. I go one step further, I also put a bobber about 30" up from the flukes. I throw it out and work like FNF rig. The flukes dart and dance when I twitch the bobber. Works great for me.
I saw a 80 yr old man doing this rig at Barren. He caught more that 30 bass, while I watched him. I coasted over and asked what type of rig was he throwing? His ansewer was "A Floating Fluke" son. That sold me!!
