I love those things too but haven't had them very often since I got married 26 yrs ago. My wife refuses to fix them for me because she can't stand the smell. My mom sure could fix some good patties. She always put a dab or two of mustard in there. Man thats good stuff!
My wife and I were raised in the country and some folks would think we have some strange ideas about breakfast food. Sometimes we will have salmon patties, biscuits and gravy for breakfast. I usually like some sliced tomato with that. Fried chicken, biscuit and gravy is not bad for breakfast either. I will try your recipe and thanks.
It's funny how set in their ways people can be about breakfast. When I was working with the horses at Churchill Downs, some people thought it was weird that I would ask for a slice of tomato on my sausage biscuit in the morning. And fish for breakfast doesn't faze me. My parents move to Lewes, DE in the 80's, which was a fishing down for decades but is now more of a resort, and one thing we learned early from the locals was how delicious fried fish roe and eggs is! You just can't get that here.My wife and I were raised in the country and some folks would think we have some strange ideas about breakfast food. Three to four pieces of backstrap from small doe dipped in buttermilk and egg mixture then rolled in a lil cornmeal and flour with a lil salt and pepper. Three over easy (brown) eggs fryed in butter and four slices of buttered toast and a big glass of cold whole milk. Makes me hungry!!
Fried squirrel and squirrel gravy about 6:00am when the fog is coming up off the Cumberland river on a september morning. Tomatoes on the side.
You eat the squirrel head and all don't you? My dad would fry the squirrel with HEAD. Then sit there and take a butter knife to crack the skull and scoop out the Green Squirrel Brains onto his biscuit. He can have it because I am not that Hungary yet
awwww...thats about enough to make me sick..lol
Hold the gravy, but use the grandmothers receipt then add "Old Bay Seasoning", plus some Mayo and fry them in the grease ("olive oil"]. If you like a little south of the boarder taste, then add some chopped jalapeno peppers to the mix. Enjoy!!!![]()
