I'm probably going Saturday - will post up some info. if it turns out to be a good day. Taking the cast net and gonna split shot cut bait on a flat to see what happens...have had great success with this in the past in the summertime.

alright thanks
Well, I'm going tomorrow. Instead of jugging, I plan on trying something new. I'm gonna locate a hole where a bunch of fish are and drift fish over it a couple times. Been meaning to try it and since it's cooled off, I'm going on a weekday vs the weekend. Will post pics of what I catch.
sounds good thanks
Well, I got skunked. Beautiful day for it though
I found a couple deep holes where a bunch of fish were laying in it, threw out 4 poles, killed the motor and waited. In 20 minutes I broke 4 rigs getting hung up and no fish. So I changed over everything and trolled for hybrids. Zero there too.
As for catfish, I saw 3 boats jugging between Chowning and horseshoe bend and not one single was was moving. All the shad you can catch are only 2 inches long...couldn't find the 4-5" that I like. I don't see why people jug deep water unless they run long lines. I like 6-9 ft of water myself with a 5 ft drop line. Wish I took my jugs so bad.![]()
do you think they will hit at night right now?
i know on the ohio river the big bite has been coming at night time...
well i'm hoping thats the same for taylorsville.
I usually go off Settlers Trace, then hang a right toward dam, head to the middle, find the shallow hump, then move just slightly off of it. Downpoles with light weight and cut or live bait, shiner, shad, or nightcrawlers set just about 1-2 feet off the bottom. I just drift, and use the trolling motor to reposition to close to the hump. Also try the end of the hump towards the dam. Early morning and evening/night have worked there.
When I've fished for Catfish at T-ville .... I've cast netted Shad, cut them in half, and fished them below a slipfloat at about 6' ~I usually go off Settlers Trace, then hang a right toward dam, head to the middle, find the shallow hump, then move just slightly off of it. Like HBob ... I launch out of Settlers, make the right hand turn towards the dam ... but, instead of the "hump" area, I tie up to the standing trees in the coves along the bank to the left (as you turn to the right towards the dam) and cast out towards the main lake/hump. I've caught good "eater" Channel Cats, doing that (in the distant past).
Now, I will admit that I was not fishing for any Catfish over the 4-5lb range ... just for some "eater" size fish in the 2-4lb range.
... pappy
