It's not something I would spend my money on but It'd be a pretty cool gift. I only have 2 rules when it comes to my color selection. If the water has good visibility I use natural colors. If it's not so clear I use either a bright color or black.

I did see a show one time where Jimmy Houston and Roland Martin were first trying out different colors to see what the bass were hitting and then using the the colorclector to see if it matched up and it did everytime. Could have been a marketing gimmick but according to them it was a good quality product.
