Thanks for posting. It's a very good article. I've always heard about jigs as being a big bass bait, but I have so much more luck with worms/creature baits. This inspired me to try jigs more.

Eddie, dont put the worms away just yet. I have never been able to buy into the "jigs catch bigger fish" argument, but I do believe in the argument that big baits catch big fish. Its all about size and profile. There is no better all around bass catcher than a worm. And that includes big fish. The reason people believe jigs catch bigger fish is because they do when you compare it to a small, skinny 4-7 inch worm, as the 3/8 oz or bigger jig and trailer is a bigger bait with a bigger profile. The trick is to be around big fish first, and then upsize the worm from 4-7 inches to a meaty 10-14 inch worm. Now in colder water or extremely heavy cover, or possibly going after smallmouth, the jig or a meatier plastic like a beaver type bait is hard to beat for a slow presentation, but from May thru September big texas rigged worms will put it on a big jig when you are looking for largemouth. Once I figured out the big worm tactics, I rarely tie on a jig anymore.
