    Four on da Fly today!

Well thanks to TS Lee my trip to Panama City last week was not that great so I'm back on the Freshwater Bones this weekend. Today was the best day I've had on the water since I've been chasing these dudes!! Not sure if it was the cooler weather and water temps, but they seemed a little more aggressive going after the bug and didn't spook with closer fly placements.... I'll take it!

Looks like a blast! I've been doing a lot of bass and panfish fishing with my fly rod at Nolin but haven't targeted carp yet. What types of bugs do you use? I would think a cicada-type pattern would kill 'em this time of year. Maybe a hopper? You don't have to get specific. Those dudes would give my 6wt a real workout!

It's a bunch of fun!! For the last couple of trips I've been hurling a rust colored backstabber fly. Seems to be the fly they like. 2 eats right at the boat and 2 were tailing!! They didn't seem as spooky yesterday and you could get the fly closer. Fun watching them turn on the fly and chase it down when it's right in front of them! I haven't taken one on the surface yet with a hopper, but have read if they are surfacing you can use those and other dry flies....

There were some big Bass up in the shallows too! I wasn't equipped for those but taking some streamers next trip!! Big ole 5lber was hanging by a small stickup ambushing bait.. very cool!!!
