    Is it wrong?

I know lake Etiquette has been discussed numerous times and how close is too close and cutting people off. Well everywhere I go this happens and maybe just cause I am on the water so much. But at what point do you all throw in the towel. I have been patient and respectful to all other fishermen and getting only rudeness in return. If I see someone catch a few fish I would never get right up on them and never would or
Even cut them off. Well I know that I do not own the lake and have never had that mentality, so is it wrong of me to go and fish the spots I want to even if someone is around there, I am not talking about tieing up to there boat or anything but having all of this done repeataly to me makes me want to give up and fall in with the rest of them! I have been raised to not do this and honestly can't say that we ever have I always talk to the guys that cut us off and ask them if they are doing good, most of the
Time no replies and blatantly ignoring me, I guess cause they know they are wrong. So do I become a prick and do what I want or hold on to what I have always known and done, I am no professional but I know right and wrong and as many of you guys have said by no means is it worth fight about. Just a little venting!

I choose to ignore it. I've been cut off before, I've had people on top of me, it *****, but it's life. I normally just bite my tongue and move on. I've had boats cut me off, only to fish way too fast and I've caught fish behind them. I tend to be laid back on the water, I'm there to enjoy myself and I try not to let a disrespectful boater ruin my day.

I have a question, what do you guys do when you come around a point and there is a boat coming from the other direction?

I normally make a friendly conversation, then I'll tell ask them which way they are going, so that I don't interfere with their fishing. If they are turning around, I turn around and go back the way I came, if they are going where I came from, I ask which way they want me to go around so that we don't bump.

Hopefully I'm handling that situation right. LOL I want to have a pleasant experience on the water, and I want the people I encounter to have the same.

I typically do the same or go around and let them have the bank. That is not disrespectful when you both come up to each other. I try to let them know what I am catching them on. A lil conversation is great especially when I am alone ha ha.

    Re: Is it wrong?

Cutting people off, jumping in their "back pocket" when they catch a fish, and roaring by too close are all wrong. Sometimes we say something. I guess it depends on how I feel. I prefer to try and get along and not stoop to their level. If they want to jump in front of me and head my way I will slow down and not budge. They can go around me. Same if they try to come in from behind me.
If I come up on someone coming my way who was around a bend or far away when we started then I will let him have the inside unless he wants to yield. It matters not to me. Like some of y'all I will ask too. If they are fishing a tournament and I am not I will usually let them have the inside no problem. I guess it depends on their attitude.
When I get to "my spot" and find someone else already there I might fish another location nearby and wait them out or just go somewhere else and come back later. Hey, it's fishing. By being forced into another location I might find that sweet spot I never knew about. That is how I look at it.
Good luck to everyone and be safe on the water.

Next time, and believe me, there will be a next time, hollar and ask them if they would like to fish out of your livewell. At least it will let them know you can recognize an idiot from several yards, sometimes in the dark!!! Tr

It will never stop. Look at how folks act on the roads or in stores while shopping. It's no different on the water...actually it might be worse when you consider the ratio of how many boats and how many are rude. Just have to get used to it.

Amen...they are not worth my time IMO...fire up the outboard, do a few circles around them, then blast off and find somewhere else.

Wonder when they will start calling it "Water rage"? It's gonna happen - oh yeah it will, it's a ticking time bomb

    Re: Is it wrong?

I never let it bother me. I figure most times they are fishing differently than I am, whether it be different baits or at a different level in the water column. Just because a guy is fishing an area doesn't necessarily mean he's catching anything, or knows how to catch them. I have no problem going in behind someone or around someone, and neither should they. That may just come from fishing the Ohio River, since dealing with a crowd is quite common, especially on the Louisville pool. I know on KY Lake some guys get way bent out of shape over it, which I never really understood....

    Re: Is it wrong?

the other day a guy pulled directly in front of me and they got out all their stuff and proceeded to fish at my front feet and the direction i was going. i put my bait within 2 ft of all 4 sides of their boat. they pretended i wasnt there and never bat an eye. so then, i pretended they werent there and fired up and blasted straight toward them, and as i went by them cut the wheel hard and kept hammering. oops. sorry, i had no idea you were fishing here.
