I dunno, but I'm reminded of the two Hoosiers who wanted to visit Kentucky. They got on the Interstate, saw a sign that said "Kentucky - left", so they turned around and went home.

How many years ago did Louisville need to start fixing their existing bridges rather than hoping for a new one?
How long do you think it will be before somebody starts a ferry service for cars to get to Indiana?
Is there any chance, it was sabotage by Indiana-ites to keep KY folks out of their state![]()

Now aint nobody going to see the fishin.com billboard,,,or is that by the other bridge?
I look for the City of Jeffersonville to jump all over that.......they tried to start that up for the basketball games not long ago....ferry from the old "Star" jetty in Jeffersonville to the downtown arena across the way. The Jeffersonville Mayor will do anything to make a buck. I can picture a "park-n-ride" shuttle with a hot-shot route to the ferry jetty.
I think this may be a conspiracy to put the tolls issue to bed......let's shut down a bridge and put people through a hardship and let them decide whether or not a toll is still an issue...
Pretty funny thing,,,
My fiance works at a cardiology office in New Albany. Today one of the doctors bought one of them floating cars from the 1960's on Ebay from someone out in California.
Right on brother, Obama even said something about the bridges in his speech, he said Kentucky/Ohio but he might of meant Kentucky/Indiana. (I'm not 100% that he brought it up but that is what my neighbors caretaker was telling me today when I got home from work.) Then bam not even 24 hours later they shut the darn thing down.
It would probably take the worlds biggest oven but the next bridge that is built all the metal should be powder coated. Then we won't have to worry about finding dare devils to paint it all the time.
They could use weathering steel. Weathering steel does not require paint. It's also known as Cor-Ten or ASTM A588. The steel is made to rust on the surface, and the layer of rust actually protects the steel from corrosion. It's a pretty common practice to use it for low maintenance bridges. There are a few drawbacks, like public opinion of a larger rusty bridge, and the rust coating can cause staining on nearby surfaces like the abutments and the bridge deck itself.
Right, it's a conspiracy. All the structural engineers from both the Department of Transportation and the private sector, including engineering universities, who say they found the same kind of cracks that they found when they investigated the bridge collapse in Minnesota, are all lying.
Catfish, Obama was referring to the Brent Spence Bridge which connects Cincinnati and Covington. The Federal Transportation Agency or whatever it's called has labelled it "obsolete and unsafe," and there's a project going to renovate or replace it.
What all this represents is not some "conspiracy," but examples of how America's infrastructure is crumbling. And we're seeing it a lot here in Louisville; just look at the two 48" water water main breaks we had within a week of each other, now this. Anybody remember when the sewers downtown blew up? Our sewer system is totally inadequate, to the point where whenever there's a heavy rainstorm millions of gallons of untreated sewage get dumped into the Ohio River. There are bridges all over the place that are falling apart. As the years go by, we're going to see more and more of this kind of thing. There is a LOT of infrastructure out there - bridges, tunnels, dams, sewers, you name it - that was built decades ago, some of it even back in the 19th century. Today it's being used way past the capacity it was designed for, its design in many cases was flawed in the first place, and in many (most) cases it hasn't been properly maintained. Now our chickens are coming home to roost.
I called it! The Spirit of Jeffersonville will begin shuttle service tomorrow morning. The shuttle will take people from downtown Jeffersonville to downtown Louisville in the mornings and then from downtown Louisville to downtown Jeffersonville in the afternoons
Man I'm sure them same cacks have been there for years. I don't disagree with saying the bridge is unsafe but truthfully I believe it has probably been unsafe for years and years. They want them tolls more than anything, no one is going to change my mind on that.Right, it's a conspiracy. All the structural engineers from both the Department of Transportation and the private sector, including engineering universities, who say they found the same kind of cracks that they found when they investigated the bridge collapse in Minnesota, are all lying.

I agree our infrastructure is crumbling, but what can us Joe Blows do when all our tax money is being spent fighting war and giving hand outs to every other nation. This is what the powers that be want to happen and their getting it. They want this nation on its knees.
