    Stoner Creek

Hey all, I live in Lexington and normally fish Elkhorn in the Georgetown area. A friend mentioned I should try Stoner Creek. However, since I don't have a boat I'm forced to fish from the shore. Does anyone know of a good spot where I could park to fish on Stoner Creek? Thanks for your help!

Yes sir...If you don't mind wading. Stoner runs right through Garrad Park, it's a great place to wade (though I haven't done it or even seen it in years) and doesn't get much pressure at all. I used to wade it all the time when I was a kid. If you don't want to wade, I know another spot you may have some luck, if you don't mind walking for a bit...if you keep following the road that takes you to the main entrance to Garrad Park (Houston Ave i think...though it may turn into Fithian Ave.) all of the way to the dead end and walk that field straight back you will come to a railroad tressel I also used to fish when I was younger. I've caught several very nice bass there, as well as some good size carp. Please keep in mind that I haven't been there in quite a while, so what was ok then, may not be ok now.

Good luck, and please let us know how you do

Frymans ramp used to rent john boats. Don't know if they still do or if it's in your budget but that may be an option to get you more water coverage.

Yes they still rent boats and trolling motors also but most of the time there isn't anybody there at the office to rent them from... If you are interested in doing that you might get some info from goosecreekguy who post here on occasion.

Fryman's has really good bank access fishing. Two other places you might try,Whitehall State Park has a brand new lake with a fishing pier and full bank access and Wilgreen Lake also in Madison County offers a fishing pier and bank access(there may be a small fee at Wilgreen).Good luck,Darealbigcat

Thanks for all the help! I will check out both Garrad Park and Fryman's. Probably Thursday morning. So I'll let you all know if I have any luck. I will also look into Whitehall State Park and Wilgreen Lake. Again, thanks.
