The San Francisco Chronicle...isn't that about as liberal as it gets? I don't know I'm just asking. Sounds like some hate editorial stuff to me. Of course if someone is reporting/publishing something in a book, well....if it isn't true couldn't they be sued for slander or harrassment of some sort?

I never heard of this NBA player until now.

Not sure Palin has the leadership qualifications needed for POTUS, but I still like her. I like how she continues to stir the pot, lol...

Holy Crap, it is funny you guys are talking about the San Francisco Chronicle. I just read a piece by their food writer about hunting and cooking doves. I almost fell across my desk that it was in that paper! Also to be fair, it isn't the paper that is making these allegations, it is the author of a new book.

Honestly, I am not a Palin fan, but I don't care if she slept with Glen Rice while he was playing hoops for Michigan. I wouldn't care if she later went to Ann Arbor and slept with Chris Webber and the entire Fab Five. None of my business.

Tim, re: slander. It has been a while since I studied journalism laws, but I believe the only case she may have would be Libel. If the writer is quoting others, then he is off the hook unless they can prove that he knew the information was false but wrote it anyway. She would actually have to go after the people making the claims.

Keep this in mind too. The reason you rarely hear about a lawsuit against these type of allegations are because they are usually true or at least close enough to the truth that they can't win the case.

This is another desperate attempt by the left wing to try to damage the reputation of Sarah Palin. If she sues him for libel she just generates publicity for his book. More people will buy it and he makes more money. If she just lets it go , his book will die on the shelf. It doesn't make a bit of difference though. How many people on here slept with someone and they regretted ? Did it make you less competent at your job? If she did, that makes her human just like us. I'm just curious though, why didn't they come out with this during the election in 2008. Do they feel more threatened of her now? She is more powerful now than ever before and those that put her and the tea party down are just scared of them. Why would anyone not want less government intrusion in their lives and lower taxes thus lower unemployment? Probably because those against the tea party and Palin are depending on the Nanny State to take care of them. They are part of the country that doesn't pay income tax and wants the rich to be taxed more. They are the people that are defrauding the government by collecting government money and they are still able to work. They would rather be subservient to the government than go out and get a job. I saved for my retirement just like my parents and their parents. I unwillingly paid into social security and may not see that money again. But there are people that didn't pay collecting it. Sarah Palin is against this Nanny State government and I support her

I wish each state would publish the names of those drawing social security that never paid a dime into the program. Sort of like how they do every now and then with dead-beat parents who owe thousands of dollars in back child support payments.

It's weird, up until this book, this guy had been a pretty well-respected writer. But I think most people, right or left, will realize that what he did - moving from the east coast to be the Palins' next door neighbor, in order to research an "unauthorized biography," - amounts to STALKING, and take what he writes with a grain of salt. Plus I think there's a big "who cares" factor at play here.

OK, Tom & Chub, please educate me. Just who is drawing Social Security that didn't pay into it? Your benefits are tied to how much you paid in, so I don't see how this is possible.

Your guess is as good as mine...whatever they're recieving (whoever these people are) may not be called social security, maybe it's called disability, not sure. It just seems to me I have seen people who claim to be "disabled", but by golly they sure do some things that makes me think there's no reason why they shouldn't be working.

Bottom line for me is I have no faith in our government handling money, making decisions or anything else. It is what it is...

OK I answered my own question. I knew some government employees didn't pay Social Security taxes, but I didn't think they were eligible for benefits. Turns out they can receive benefits, just at a lower rate.

I don't think it's all that many, and I certainly don't think they should have their names published in the newspapers like a bunch of deadbeats just because they're government employees and Congress decided they didn't have to pay Social Security, which MOST government employees do, btw.

There are numerous cases of illegal immigrants using someone elses social security number and collecting benefits from it. Supplemental security income is not based on what you pay in. It is for the disabled that cannot work. If you google totalization agreements you'll find that some have paid into it but if the U.S. enters a totalization agreement with Mexico it could devestate Social security.

Tax rates are at their lowest levels since the 1950s, so........

The bulk of people not paying income tax are the elderly, those with children, and the working poor. Ironically, many of the provisions of the tax code that caused that result, such as the child credit and the earned income tax credit, were Republican initiatives.

Both are nice Republican talking points that plays well with the base though.

I don't know where you get your figures from but I can see from facts that one in 4 people in Kentucky collect some type of disability. I personally know a guy 42 years old that collects about $5000.00 a month in VA and social Security benefits and runs a husband and wife quarters cleaning business on Ft Knox. This guy and his (38 year old wife legally blind and also collecting SSI) are milking the system. Here's a question for ya. How can she get a drivers license when she is legally blind. I see her driving her new car every day.
