Those river fish are forced to be pretty opportunistic feeders most of the time. Right before and after winter they will attempt to eat about anything they can catch, even if they can only knock a piece off. Fish are crazy. Oh, you'll find more spotted bass in slow to moderate current, water too still for smallies and too fast for largemouth is usually full of them, in moving water. In lakes they will generally be closer to smallmouth haunts. Most don't get very big but they are very aggressive and a blast to catch on light tackle. Wait until you hook a big drum. You'll think you have a rock or a log until... Or a nice size flat head. Those boys there are a blast. For the man in the awesome kayak; my bias makes me think that fish looks like a spotted bass from the patterning but from that angle it is really hard to tell.
