Thanks, Sat and Sunday
Went out last night for about an hour and a half....The fish were there and they were biting I just couldn't hook up....Took probably 15 bites, only managed to land 2....Had a good one come off on the way to the boat and the 2 we caught were probably 2 1/2-3 apiece...They absolutely would not hold on to it, and I've been having that trouble for about the past month or 2....
I had a guy tell me today that he thought the lake had turned over. He said the water looked funny and people are complaining of drinking water tasting funny.
Any update on that Steven? I know you are there a LOT and I'm sure that you know for sure if it has or not.
Fishin is Life, my partner and I had the same issue this past Sunday. We had a few good bites but like you, we could not get a solid hook-up. I also think a couple of times we must have had a musky bite us cause when we went to set the hook it was like someone took a knife to the line.
To be honest I quit going out there for about a month....I've been out there 3 times in the past week and don't see any sign of turnover....The water does have a slight stain to it but it doesn't look like turnover water and there's no smell....I've heard a couple guys say the creeks look nasty so it could be that I wasn't out there for the main lake turnover or the creeks may be turning now and causing that slight stain in the water
The fish had been biting strange and I couldn't get hooked up with more than half the fish that bit, that's why I quit going out there...Saturday morning they seemed to be holding on better so I thought maybe they were over it, but last night proved different.....It may just be that they're feeding more actively in the mornings...The fish I've been catching aren't squirts which leads me to believe that it's not squirts that are biting....More than likely if you were setting the hook and never feeling fish and losing a bait it was musky....I've been drop fishing lately and have noticed TONS of them rolling up and coming up on top and feeding....I've had them do that some on jigs and creature baits, usually dark colors
All of my fish came on Junebug colored plastics with tails dyed chartreuse & the jig fish came on black& blue jigs with Sapphire Blue chunk & tails dyed chartreuse & rattles used on everything. Had a couple light bites, but for the most part they hit pretty aggressively.
Fished a small tournament sat at green and went to the creek,,nothing was there!!! Killed our tounament wasting time up there.went yesterday and fished a couple hang ups off some flats with that resided close to some deep walls and caught the crap out of fish!! First time that i have ever went to green and caught 5 smallmouth from 2 pds up to 1 weighing 4.13 and the others where 2 to 2 1/2 pds.. All of them come from 1 spot.. Moved to another similar place and caught 3 ky's and 1 largemouth that weighed 5.88 and the spots where around 14 inches long same size..best day i have had on green in a long time!! Started around 2.00 est came off the lake at 7.00 est.
All of our fish came off of a 3/8 ounce shoe bootie jig cumberland craw with a zoom chunk trailer watermelon with red flake. The bigest largemouth came off of a white zoom trick worm fished weightless and one of the spots came off the same thing. The small mouth's all come off of a jig swimming it just off the bottom kinda fast around 10 ft of water.. My out put to you might not mean much,,but hope it helps you a little. Chris
