topwater bite?

TOPWATER RIGHT NOW IS SOMETHING YOU WILL HAVE TO TEST THE WATERS TO SEE IF ITS ON. LAST WEEKEND AT NOLIN I TRIED TOP WATER AND HAD NO LUCK IN THE AREA I WAS FISHING BUT OTHER FISHERMEN FISHING OTHER PARTS OF THE LAKE HAD GOOD LUCK ON TOPWATER WE TRIED POPPERS AND BUZZBAITS. ABOUT A MONTH AGO ME AND A FREIND WERE FISHING TOP WATER POPPERS AND I WAS CATCHING BASS ABOUT EVERY CAST BUT MY FREIND FISHING ANOTHER TYPE POPPER WAS ONLY CATCHING 1 TO MY 3 OR 4 BASS. I THOUGHT WHEN THEY WERE HITTING TOP WATER THEY WOULD HIT ANY TYPE POPPER IF WORKED CORRECTLY---WRONG ! BUT THIS TIME OF YEAR KEEP A TOP WATER BAIT ON BECAUSE SOONER OR LATER IN THE FALL THEY WILL BE HITTING IT. ITS CATCHING THEM AT THE RIGHT TIME. THATS WHY THEY CALL IT FISHING NOT CATCHING--LOL--GOOD LUCK JC

thanks. i fished top water for about 20 mins last sunday and caught one but had 2 others blow up on it

didn't start until noon:30 today.caught fish on buzzbait all day.no giants but fun,caught some good ones,when i was around fish they bit about what ever you threw.brought home a limit of spots.

I've had great top water luck on Elkhorn. Been throwing buzzbaits and poppers, they hit em hard!

nolin,lot of em were the usual 13-143\4 did have 4 good one around 3lb,several 151\4 and had 2 others on i seen 3lb or so also,had alot of slappers after the sun got bright,before they killed it.

Buzzbaits: trailer hook? If they strike at it and miss, do you let it drift slack or keep reeling it?
