There was an announcement recently about Alabama getting a $7 billion, 300-mile toll road, port, and rail system reaching from Orange Beach, AL to Loretto, TN. It will run across west Alabama near where I live. Oh, Jeeze!

All the politicians, elected officials, and wannabes denied any knowledge of it and said they hadn't been informed about it. Some told the press they didn't understand how a virtually unknown company could manage to secure the land and permits and them not know anything about it. They expressed doubt that anyone could build a road that didn't involve taking any taxpayer money or government funding. They threw out the names of 3 different companies but neither of them was correct. The 300 miles is just the first half of the toll road; the last half reaches to Chicago, and the politicians don't even know it. You may be able to get yourself a new bridge if you ask for it. lol

This was reported on May 1, 2000, in Engineering News-Record (ENR) and it said the governor of Alabama had signed the measure into law. You can read the one-page report taken from ENR archives some time back. Click on the information that shows up on this page that is provided by another website; it keeps up with infrastructure information. ENR no longer has it available in their archives.

I wonder how quickly Obama will say that project was his idea and the money was released by him. He will surely claim credit for the 14,000 jobs it creates.
