    Re: Drop Shot Rig

I use a shaky head jig as my weight. Caught fish on both the jig and drop shot hook using this setup ( not at the same time). Don't remember where I saw this but makes sense to me. If I am using a 1/4 or 3/8 drop shot weight then why not use the Shaky head jig and it has served me well

Good idea. I will definitely try that. Maybe it is the type of fluoro I use that is the cause of my line breaking. I mainly use XPS, but also Trilene.

Elnut, I had the same idea. I have done similar with a Carolina-rig before. I had an in-line jig that I put in place of the sinker.

It is the VMC Spinshot hooks. The concept looks like it would help, but I don't know anyone that has tried them.

spinshot hooks wont be out till end of October. Tackle Warehouse will have them and i'm sure Bass Pro will to.
I dont think they will work as good as people think...the hook spins therefore you will still have line twists.
The design needs to have 3 moving parts.
As far as the drop shot weights breaking your line Quit pulling so tight it only need to be snug. If your line is still breaking it may be bad line. I use 8lb seager and never have issues.
