Have you guys seen this? Now, I don't hide from the fact that I'm a Ford guy...but haven't always been. I've owned Chevy and Dodge/Jeep too. However, I'm pretty solidly in the Blue Oval Camp now and don't see that changing anytime soon. I think they are the best thing going.

I say bravo for Ford not taking bailout funds, even if it was a "calculated" move...and bravo for having the cohones to let your marketing folks put out an ad about it.

I'm a Chevy guy...

Can't remember when or where I read it, or maybe I saw it on the internet, I may have even posted it here not to long ago, I can't remember. But if memory serves me correctly there was some sort of survey taken or inventory taken or what have you, to try and decypher how many foriegn parts the Big 3 auto manufacturer's use in their vehicles. Once again, not trying to rain on your Ford parade at all, but I believe it was Ford that used the most foriegn parts in their line up, more than Chrysler, more than GM.

Now if this is true....then common sense tells me the reason Ford didn't need a bail out was because they were doing whatever it took to stay a float on their own and perhaps even remain profitable, and if that meant loading up the F150 with less expensive foriegn goods then so be it.

Perhaps if GM and Chrysler would have bit the Chinese Bullet they wouldn't have needed a bail out either, who knows. It's all water under the bridge now. The one and only Ford I do like (a lot), is the Ford Flex. That rascal rides great, gets decent gas mileage (at least compared to my 97 model 4-wheel drive 350 V8 anyway), nice and roomy inside too.

Don't know the motives or business practices of ford but I can say I'm 100% behind them for not getting a bailout. I prolly won't own one but kudos to them for standing apart from the gubment.
I refuse to buy a chevy or GM right now......Sure the bailout might get paid back and until they are 100% free of gubment supervision I will not buy Gubment Motors. Heck maybe they are free from them now????

I agree...they had to do what they had to do, more power to them.

It's sort of ironic that all the talk now days is about "creating jobs" here in the U.S. The sad fact is the government who's trying to win elections by getting on the "create more jobs" band wagon is the same government who had a hand in causing the jobs to dissappear in the first place with all their rules, regulations, EPA Standards and so on.

I'm looking at a set of shop drawings right now for a military housing project, check this out:

The wiring and voice/data cabling are all made in USA, as are the screws, nuts, bolts, washers, etc (Yes, believe it or not, shop drawings were submitted for screws, nuts, bolts and washers). This is a United States Government project fella's, the same government who's chanting "create jobs" in America all for the sake of election or re-election.

Yeah it's such a joke on how this works. No one is looking out for the workers. The unions look out for themselves, the politicians want party power at any cost and the rest of us are left to fend for ourselves.
All we can hope for is a real leader with some ability to turn this around.

Try taking a regular two wheel drive Ford truck and pulling a 20 foot bass boat. Then take a Chevy two wheel drive truck and pull that same boat. Both with equal or very similar V-8's. After this experiment tell me who pulls a sled better.

I thought I was gonna have to get out and push a couple of Buddy's Ford's up hills several times.

To each his own, but I don't think Ford trucks could pull a wet one night stand out of bed.

I had an F-150 Lariat that I bought at 2 years old way way back, so far I won't talk about it.... I put about a Gazzilion miles on that ole 302 v8 and it finally give up the ghost. I have to admit that was one Helluva truck........

I love that motor! Buddy of mine has about a '69 Bronco with one, and man does it sound sweet! My family had a Nautaline houseboat with twin Ford 302s in it too, man I miss those old days!
