Not wanting to sound like a smart *** but I would take it back to dealer and get another one. That is, after you checked your connections, transducer, etc. Good luck with it![]()
Did it work before or is this new installation? Check the Lowrance site for trouble shooting. Did you or anyone change settings on tne unit? You just have to trouble shoot through the problems. A low batter voltage and low warning level set on the depth finder will cause you problems also. Good Luck!!!

If you have a specific bottom depth selected, say 40', then uncheck the setting "manual". Can't remember which menu that is in. On these units according to the manual, when manual is selected it just sends the signal to that depth. Could be why you are loosing the bottom reading.
Unselecting manual on these units does not put your unit in full automatic mode. I think maybe that is a setting called advanced mode.
Might see if the problem occurs on auto depth.
If lowrance offers to send you a new transducer (free), I have haver had that fix the problem, however it is nice to have spare transducers.
Sometimes the depth will blink on these units. If it blinks for more than thirty seconds a lot during the day I think it makes the unit unusable. I don't know how often and how long yours is blinking.
Lowrance and a friend of mine told me to do a soft reset. Hopefully this will correct the problem.Going from memory.

Set your Depth Range for however deep the water is as this will make a difference.
I went through this very thing the first year I had my HDS 7. I called Lowrance and that's what the Lady told me to do and it solved the issue.
