Fishing lease????

where i hunt, there is about 300 acres it they guy that owns it set up 2 different leases. a farm lease and a lease to allow a person to hunt and fish i always thought that was a pretty cool idea, not sure if many people do this.

Funnily enough I just did this with a fairly small private pond owned (supposedly) by a Homeowner's Association. I paid for a temporary pass since I am not a Homeowner. Yesterday I went to fish the pond for the first time.

I had a pretty good day with the fish, not so good with a neighbour. He came out to his back yard and introduced himself as a self-professed jerk and promptly asked me to get off his land. I told him about my pass but he was adamant I had to move, even threatened to call the police.

Now I need to decide whether I need to request a refund or stick it out and see if the pond is still fishable once all the reeds around the edge recede.

Bottom line here is: Be sure to check and double check what your lease/pass entitles you to.

Leasing is very popular in europe, where there is very little public land. My advice would be to contact the county agents in some of the places you might like, and see if some pond owners are open to such an idea.
